This hotel is actually in a very good location which allows you to walk to almost all the attractions and sights in Caen. European Best Western Hotels are a notch above those in North American, in my opinion. Reception was friendly and informative. Room had a balcony with a view of the large park area, which also had an underground parking garage, which made parking and hotel access simple. Room and also the rest of hotel property was clean and looked well maintained. Visited the major sights and enjoyed walking around the streets with cafes, restaurants, shops, and local businesses. We enjoyed the area and cafe owners and staff were friendly. This hotel would be on my list of places to stay at again.

I stayed at Royal Hôtel for 2 weeks in January 2025. It is located in the center of Caen, making everything easily accessible on foot. There is a free shuttle that takes you around town (hop on hop off) with a stop about 50 ft from the hotel. Right next door is the Brasserie Le Royal, with good food and obviously very convenient when you stay at the hotel and don't want to wander off too far.

The hotel is eco friendly in every aspect, including filtered water in the lobby, with caraffes available day and night. The hotel is very clean, the breakfast offers many options, and there is a bar downstairs, next to the lobby with a solid selection of wines and other spirits.

Most remarkable: the incredible staff! They are extremely friendly and professional, do their best to quickly tend to your needs, and man the lobby 24/7. In no particular order, I had the privilege of interacting with all these wonderful people: Estelle, Daphné, Dany, Damien, Servane, Laure and Mme Labrosse. They are all truly fantastic, first-class, five-star, and did all they could to make my stay memorable. Thank you ALL!!!

Great location, directly across from the underground parking garage where we kept the car. Within walking distance to many restaurants, shops and sites. Super clean, staff were wonderful and the breakfast was delicious with lots of variety. Only negative I’d say is that our room faced the square and it did get a little rowdy at night once or twice which woke us up. If I’d kept my earplugs in it would have been fine, so just be aware. Would absolutely recommend this hotel to fellow travelers for future visits.
